Seasonal Clean Up Package
- Disassemble the firearm, degrease and re-oil
- Clean and polish the barrel and action
- Apply rust inhibitor
- Clean and polish the stock. Reseal inside and out with linseed or tung oil
- Clean and polish the bore
- Includes deep copper removal
- All required screws will have loctite applied and torqued to proper specifications

Tikka T3
This rifle came in with poor groups and a shifting zero. Inspection showed the issue was not the rifle or the scope, but the front scope base. As shown in the top photo, the base was not sitting square, allowing movement under recoil.
The photo on the bottom shows the correction. Proper Torx-head screws with a larger bearing surface were installed, keeping the base centered over the screw holes, square to the action, and preventing future movement.
The scope rings will be bored and aligned to the complete the setup. Small details make a big difference – this is how consistency is built back into the rifle.
A Shimmed Base
Shimming scope bases is often used as a quick fix for poor base alignment. These fiber shims likely worked fine the first time the rifle was taken out but the rifle came to us with a familiar complaint – it never returned to the same zero. That’s what we call zero shift.
A dependable hunting rifle starts with a quality mounting system, properly matched to the application and installed correctly. Shimming should be the last resort, not the first solution to a problem.
In cases where shims are unavoidable, material matters. You won’t find cardboard or fiber shims leaving our shop. We use steel or stainless steel shims, installed correctly, to keep things solid and repeatable.
Ruger M77 Varmint 22-250
Already running a quality Leupold scope? Shooting farther than you used to? Thinking about a scope with a bullet drop compensator?
Most major scope manufacturers offer BDC options, but a new scope isn’t always the most practical or cost-effective solution.
If you’re satisfied with your current Leupold and hesitate to invest in a new optic, a custom elevation turret is worth considering. These dials are calibrated to your specific load and typical hunting conditions, providing precise and repeatable elevation corrections for a fraction of the cost of a new scope – while keeping a reticle you already trust.
Hillbilly Arms is not affiliated with Leupold, Korth or Leupold Canada. We have worked with them extensively and found their service to be timely, professional and dependable.
This Ruger originally came in slated for a new barrel and scope due to poor accuracy. The scope was evaluated by the professionals at Korth, fitted with a custom BDC dial calibrated to the owner’s load, and the rifle then received our setup package.
The result is a rifle now shooting under 1/4 MOA – at a fraction of the cost of a new barrel and new scope.
Glass Bedding Preparation
It is the little things that count:
Fiberglass re-inforcing stocks is done to add strength. We router in steel re-inforcements to further strengthen your stock.
Swivel Screw???
Ever had that front swivel screw pull through on you? Had your rifle crash down on the rocks. Even the best scope and the best scope warranty won’t stand up to a 8 pound rifle falling on the scope on the frozen rocks. They always land on the scope, just like falling toast always lands jam down. It’s a Murphy Law thing.
We can put a nut backed front swivel screw in your stock for you.
Sighting in and Chronographing
Sighting in includes but is not limited to a 100 yd. zero. By chronographing your loads we can provide you with invaluable information for handload development. At this time we are also able to do an ammuniton comparison and evaluation. Chronographing allows us to do a ballistic calculation will in turn enable you to have a custom bullet drop compensation dial providing you with better accuracy.
Stock Repairs
Shattered Dreams
Remington SXS 12 ga shotgun. Got dropped onto a very hard surface with a great deal of force, shattering the buttstock. They retrieved all the pieces, put them in a baggie and we repaired it. Order of the pictures is in reverse order to the timeline. You can see what we started with, how we got there, then what we finished with.
Stock Restoration
Weatherby Revived
Weatherby Mk-V 7mm WBY MAG restoration. Stock cracks and breaks repaired. Recoil pad replaced with Pachmayr F325 Brown. Stock restored with hand polished oil finish. Leupold M6 scope reconditioned by Leupold Canada. New Leupold STD scope mounts. Metal reblued.
Stock Replacement
Sometimes a stock just needs to be replaced. This fellow opted for this as his replacement stock.
